From Rock Bands to Rat Rods

Thirty years ago Dan Stephenson was shooting photos of rock bands, comedians, and athletes for the Towns Magazine in Fargo, North Dakota. What could be better for a long haired (yes he had hair) 22 year old budding photographer? Sadly that came to an end when the magazine suffered an all too familiar fate within the publishing world, it tanked. Dan’s career veered into the world of advertising for the next couple of decades, until the dawn of the digital revolution. The explosion of digital photography opened the door to Dan’s renewed professional pursuit of a life behind the camera. 10 years of learning the ins and outs of the digital world as well as the polishing of his Photoshop skills lead to the birth of Garage Fossil Imaging in 2009.

American Hot Rods and gorgeous girls are the engines that drive Garage Fossil. Dan’s approach combines the somewhat innocent car pinups hanging in American garages in the 50′s and 60′s with today’s styles, edge, looks, attitudes, and more than a few tattoos. Garage Fossil’s unique treatment of the great American Hot Rod turns a great car into what Dan refers to as his “Garage Art”!

Garage Fossil’s “Garage Art” has found it’s way onto the cover of national car magazines, websites, and is proudly hung in garages and mancaves throughout the USA. Dan and his Garage Girls are available for individual and club photo shoots and are a huge hit at the car shows/events they invade. Melissa Carrot-Cake Pruitt – La Tee Da Photography

Melissa Carrot-Cake Pruitt

While cruising Facebook today for cool rat rod pictures I came across Melissa Carrot-Cake Pruitt’s AMAZING work. Here is a little bit about Melissa and make sure you check out her work but be prepared to mop up your drool.

I’m 27 years old, a mother of two and married Tyler Pruitt. I am the proud owner of La Tee Da Photography Studio in Grand Junction, Colorado. I am completely self taught. I’ve been shooting professionally since 2007 and I specializes in Editorial photography.

My favorite type of photography is a mixture of Portrait, landscape, and Conceptual. when you blend all 3 together you get a fantastic Editorial image that tells a story.

My father owns a collection of custom Hot rods, and rat rods are more of the next generation of carrying on their history. I’ve been fortunate to have met some great people with some really unique custom rat rods and what better way to showcase them, but in a fun and “not your typical” pin up girl and theme:)

Currently a resident artist at The Raw Canvas Working Artist Gallery.

Check out some of Melissa’s photography right here on RatRodsOnline.com

See more of Melissa’s work here. Also you can find her on Facebook here.

Featured Pin Up Jennifer Affronti

www.msredd.com

I am a 5’9″ redhead with some curves and a spunky attitude to boot. I definitely live my life like a cartoon character.I hate to say it, but I am a hopeless romantic. I need laughter in my life more than anything. I can be a complete goofball at times. Ask anyone that really knows me. I am a wildchild at heart, but I am very much a traditionalist (that means you’ll have to ask me out)! I feel I should have been one of those dames from the 50′s (classic and classy). LOVE PIN UP and BURLESQUE ..motorcyles and old cars…rock n roll….and being in front of the camera. There’s nothing better than imagining and putting together a photo that evokes an emotion. I love being on stage and perform with an audience. I am one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, but don’t confuse that for weakness….you do not want to mess with this spitfire!! I am extremely spiritual (but my definition of spiritual, not the one that was force fed to you). I grew up in LA (lower Alabama) Florida until I was about 12. Then my mom moved us to L.A.(Los Angeles). I love to dress up and wear spiked stillettos, but I feel just as comfortable in my beater, jeans, chucks and glasses. I love talking with people that know their craft and can educate me. I am not threatened by someone that knows more than me on certain subjects. I find it interesting to find out what gets other people “off” so to speak. I love learning and feel you die when you stop. Unfortunately, I am not good in school, I learn by watching or doing. I guess I live my life trial by fire. I like to surround myself with upbeat, optomistic, goal oriented people. I have lived many lives in this short time, and have met many different people. I am one of those people that can blend in anywhere but doesn’t really fit in at the same time. I work in nightclubs, but don’t party. I would rather stay home and cook for good company. And one more thing…I am a perfectionist, I take pride in that, I am a very proud woman..I am also my worst critic (i think it all has to do with my Celtic and Sicilian heritage).

I have been asked many of times what I look for in a MAN. Well here goes: A REAL MAN! One that is just as diverse as I am, one that can stand next to me (not behind me or in front of me)witty, honest, spiritual, passionate, romantic, let’s throw in there he must be attractive to me, artistic, intelligent (I have a thing for nerds), doesn’t do drugs, doesn’t have a gambling problem (I am tapped out!), doesn’t CHEAT or use me for $$$ ,not afraid of my height or my love for heels. Someone that wants to go on an Adventure of a Lifetime with me. And really guys, no one wants to play head games anymore…especially me. You will find out very quickly, I get bored when you play games. It is much more attractive to let me know that you really are interested.
